I never really cared much about Thanksgiving when I was growing up. It was just a big, nice meal and then it was finally time to put up our Christmas tree.
But the older I get, the more I really, really love Thanksgiving and I’m not in a rush to get past it and on to Christmas. I love dedicating an entire month to gratitude, and I love the relaxing time with family.
This year, since we just moved, we’re laying low and staying home — no company, and no traveling. And it’s exactly how I want it — just time with me and my four boys, them playing legos in the family room while I cook the feast, then later in the kitchen with me assembling our pies (they’ve requested pumpkin pie with whipped cream so we’re making it together!), and snuggling on the couch watching our first Christmas movie of the season. Basically it’s the most dreamy day ever and it’s a great reminder of how incredibly blessed I am.
I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving wherever you are!
