Last summer, as I was perusing Pinterest, I came across this fun weekly pregnancy series.

 via
During my pregnancy with Peanut, I did a weekly maternity series, which I loved so much that I decided to do it with all my future babies.  When I saw this series, I instantly fell in love — especially with the idea of wearing the same dress the whole forty weeks.
So when I got pregnant at the end of July last year, I went on the hunt for the perfect dress, but couldn’t find anything. After a couple weeks of hunting, I found an adorable striped maternity top at Gap, and decided to make my own. I bought two shirts (one in my regular size and one a size up), then chopped the larger one off right under the armpits, removed the side ruching, line up the stripes, and sewed the two shirts together. Voila, maternity dress! I loved it. [UPDATE: Full dress tutorial HERE]

The day before I was going to take my 10 week photo, I started bleeding, and, devastatingly, the pregnancy ended in miscarriage.

In the months after last September, I kept the dress at the back of the closet, waiting month after month for when I could use it again. I wore it a few times, but it just made me kind of sad, so it mostly just hung there…waiting.

And finally, at the end of February, its time came again.

We are over the moon 🙂

  83. Rachel says:

I am so happy to read this! I'm behind on reading my fave blogs so I'm just not seeing it.. but I'm so happy! I too had a miscarriage but only at around 4 weeks, last summer. I can't imagine after 10 weeks, I was devastated after only a couple weeks! So happy for you and your family!!!! <3Rachel

  84. I have to say that this has really brought some encouragement to my day! I found out in Feb that I was pregnant with our second child and then in April that I lost the baby. We have been trying and had 2 months of NO and I am becoming so sad from that. This gave me hope that we too will have our time!:) Thank you!!!!

  85. I love this idea of sewing two shirts together and have come across the same problem of trying to find a dress that would be suiting for this project. Did you remove the ruching on both the larger and smaller shirt?

    • No, I just removed the ruching on the larger shirt since that part was turned into the skirt. I left the ruching on top because I wanted to accommodate my pregnant stomach. If you're not pregnant, then you can take out the ruching on both shirts if you want!

  86. How do you add the fine bobbles with the different weekly numbers? 🙂 I would like to do that to my pregnancy pictures.
