Holiday Style Guide: All Out Christmas Style

It’s Holiday Style Week! I’ll be sharing great holiday outfits for every occasion. Today, we’re talking about all-out holiday-style – those borderline cheesy festive pieces.

Festive, almost over-the-top, holiday outfits are probably my most asked-for outfit ideas. These are outfits that are festive, fun, and just get you in the holiday spirit. I put together four looks for you to copy for different holiday events.

Per your request this year, I’m sharing specific outfits for specific events, rather than more generic holiday outfits. But of course any of these outfits could be worn to any of your holiday events!

Where to Wear Casual Festive Holiday Outfits

Here are some great places to wear these festive casual holiday outfits:

  • Family Christmas Party
  • Ugly Sweater Party
  • Going to See Christmas Lights
  • Kid’s Classroom Party

Family Christmas Party Outfit

This was one of the most requested outfits of the season — family Christmas party! You wanted something that was festive, but also comfy for running around cooking dinner and cleaning up and entertaining.

I chose this darling red plaid skirt that is SO Christmassy but also very comfy (I sized up for a little more length, but also wore opaque black tights with it), and then paired with a dark green sweater that’s super stretchy and comfy. The subtle green pairing with the red makes this super festive.

I paired with my black chelsea boots that are super comfy and supportive (but of course if you’re staying at home and don’t wear shoes in the house, you could just do a pair of slippers or socks)!

Ugly Sweater Party Outfit

It seems like there are always ugly sweater parties at Christmas and you’ve got to be prepared! I found this hilariously cute one from Kohls and it’s perfect for an ugly sweater party. I paired with some cute jeans and pink sneakers so it still felt my style.

Oh, and of course I added some holiday bulb earrings for an extra festive touch!

Going to See Christmas Lights

I love going to see the Christmas lights in the winter! A red coat is a perfect option for the holidays (in addition to being THE color of the season), and paired with a red plaid shirt and a green hat, it’s a perfect holiday Christmas outfit…super Christmassy without being cheesy.

Of course I paired with warm socks and THEEE Chelsea boots for extra warmth and comfy shoes that allow for plenty of walking around to see the lights.

Kid’s Classroom Christmas Party Outfit

I’m not a room mom and don’t go into my kid’s classrooms very often, but I love going into the rooms for Christmas parties or to read a Christmas book to the class. For this kind of occasion, you want something comfy and cute. I chose a darling sweatshirt from Target, some comfy jeans, and a little plaid headband for a festive touch.
