My Merrick White Collection Social Media Manager, Dar, is taking over today to share her favorite closet staple pieces from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Hi everyone, I’m Dar and I work for the Merrick White Collection handling social and customer service. I wanted to share my favorite closet staple pieces from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to realize how important it is to have classic pieces in your closet that will last for years. I’m very picky about what I buy, and when I do purchase something, I make sure it is an item that I can wear with multiple things in my closet. Quality is also very important to me. I know that what I buy will get A LOT of use, and a lot of runs through the washing machine so I need pieces that are high quality and can last for a long time.

My Tried and True Closet Staple Picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

1. White Sneakers

As a mom of very active boys, white sneakers are my go-to shoes since they look good with everything (including dresses). I go through sneakers rather quickly since I use them at the park, on daily walks, and to run errands. I’m actually on the market for new white sneakers and these Platform Converse Sneakers are currently sitting in my cart (I don’t have a Nordstrom card, so I am waiting for the sale to go live to the public on July 28th) waiting to be purchased.

2. BLANKNYC Jacket

A black leather jacket is the epitome of classic style to me. Black leather jackets haven’t changed much in years so I know that I will get many years of use out of mine. I have last year’s anniversary sale BLANKNYC leather jacket and love it! I wore it a lot last fall and winter seasons and it still looks brand new. I’m a true size Medium and wear size 6 in almost everything, but I sized down to a small in my BLANKNYC jacket.

3. Lace-Up Boots

I have these lace-up boots and absolutely love them. I got them last year and was so happy to see them in the sale this year. I wear mine with jeans and dresses and they are just so comfortable and easy to put on and take off thanks to the zipper. They run TTS. I normally wear a size 8.5 and that’s the size I have for these and they fit perfectly.

4. Black Skinny Jeans

If there is one pair of jeans in my closet that gets the most use, it’s my black jeans. I’ve had the same pair of black Madewell jeans for over two years and they still look new!! In fact, all of the Madewell jeans I own are 2-3 years old now. The quality of their jeans is just amazing. They are pricier when they’re not on sale, so if you’ve never bought a pair of Madewell jeans, now is the perfect time to try them.

5. Knitted Sweater

I live in Arizona where the temperatures don’t really drop below 60s in the winter so sweaters and lightweight jackets are the only thing I really need to stay warm. I have this neutral sweater in my cart and I can’t wait to wear it with everything.

6. Olaplex Hair Products

I have used Olaplex for a while now. I have a lot of hair that is VERY thick and dry and my hair always feels so much smoother and healthier when I use them. These products are pricier but they last a long time. You only need a small amount of shampoo to get a really good full hair lather. I love that Olaplex is made with clean ingredients and no harsh chemicals.

7. Statement Ring

Rings are my most favorite accessories. They are so easy to put on and take off. This ring caught my eye a few months ago because it’s so different from my basic gold rings. I was so excited to see it on sale, and I can’t wait to wear it with a white tee and jeans.

8. Button-Front Top

A button-front top is a classic closet staple. I didn’t realize how much of a staple they were until I started nursing my babies! I wear them with jeans, skirts, and shorts. They instantly make your outfit look more put together. I have found Madewell button front tops to run big, but I still always get size mediums because I like a slightly more oversized fit.
