Easy Travel Style with Layers

Last week I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Amsterdam for a project with Babble. Although I planned to stay only two days (per the project itinerary) my mom volunteered to come with me and turn it into a mother-daughter trip so we extended the trip two days so we had a little bit more time to sight see. It was an amazing getaway, and so fun to spend some one on one time with my mama!Although I wore a comfy maxi dress for my flight over, I was ready after twelve hours on a plane to put on something new. It was rainy and cool that first day, and we were doing a lot of walking (we visited the Anne Frank home, Rembrandt’s studio, and just did some exploring around the city), so I opted for my most comfy top — a super basic sweatshirt from Old Navy. I paired it with other comfy neutral pieces — a light wash denim jacket, white jeans, and embellished ankle boots — for a casual, chic day look. I brought almost no jewelry on this trip with me, but the comfy, neutral pieces work together well so a little sparkle is not even needed.

I’ll be sharing the rest of my outfits from the trip over the next week or two, plus some packing tips! But if you can’t wait, you can see all the photos I posted from my trip right here on my instagram.

Happy Monday!

A work trip to Amsterdam? wooooow! CONGRATULATIONS !!! I am so happy that your work and your blog has evolved so much, you are such a famous blogger now. I've followed you for years and although I always liked your style and your blog, now I love it!! I love the quality of your posts, your pictures, your tutorials, the interior desgn of your house, your tips! every single post is awesome!!! But the very best part of all, is that you are always true to your high standards and principles, you have a great style and you are MODEST!! you inspire so many girls to follow that. I'm LDS since I was born and I can tell you many girls think the only way to look stylish and fashionable is by leaving modesty behind. You are an example, you have thousands of followers, many aren't LDS, and everybody can see this fashionable side of modesty. That is why I love to see your success. Thanks for your inspiring blog, please continue surprising us.

  12. Hi Merrick! Are those boots comfy for lots of walking? I always revert back to sneakers when I'm traveling or doing lots of sight-seeing, and I'd love to upgrade to something more stylish. Thanks!

What a fun trip. I used to live in the NL for three years and can definitely tell you are there with all those bikes! I remember janssen telling me that your parents went to the NL a few years ago for Holiday…that's great your mom wanted to go back and hang out with you!
