Now that B is in school, we like to plan little adventures and activities for our weekends to make them extra special when we’re all home as a family. My boys are the happiest when they’re outside, so most of our weekends are spent adventuring.
In order to keep up with them, my weekend style is all about comfort while still looking cute. For our outdoor adventures, comfortable shoes are particularly important for me, and these high top boots from the Børn for Dillard’s collection are perfect for trudging through the dirt, leaves, and rocks — or wherever these little adventurers take us.
High top ankle boots can be a little tricky to style, but when paired with the right outfit, for the right occasion, they can definitely work. The key is to pair them with super skinny jeans so your ankles and legs look as thin and long as possible. Any bulk from your jeans at your ankles will give you instant cankles with this style of boot! Then create balance with a looser and flowy top so the boots don’t read as bulky.
I topped mine off with a thin puffer vest and fedora for a cool fall afternoon. Perfect for tromping through the leaves with my boys and our pumpkins.
Happy weekend!
Gorgeous Autumn’s photos, they look simply magical!

Hi Merrick, this is totally unrelated to your post but I just wanted to tell you how amazing you are. I’ve read other so-called-top-mommy-blogs but they’re nothing compared to yours. You talk about your own experience and post your own photos, and even make your own clothing! I’m quite sick of people whose blogs are extension of Pinterest, just talking and posting about what they like and want, instead of actually buying, using, or making them. You are adorable and you inspire me as a mom, too. Keep up the great work, your readers love you. And, thank you for being YOU.
Beautiful pictures!!! 🙂
These pictures are so fun! The picture with your boys and the pumpkins is super cute!
