OUTFIT DETAILS: j.crew tee (old, more of my favorite graphic tees here and here) | old jacket, similar here (you can see me wearing it here and here) | black jeans (similar) | seychelles pumps c/o (so comfortable) | diy clutch (purchase similar here)
Sometimes a basic tee with your jeans is the perfect outfit and can stand completely on its own. However, other times such a simple outfit needs a little something extra to make it into an outfit. There are four easy pieces that I always turn to when looking to elevate a basic look:
1. Statement shoes. I’m wearing these blue pumps to add a bright pop of color to an otherwise neutral outfit, and the heel makes a casual outfit a little more dressy. But if you’re looking for a more casual option, these pink sandals are a current favorite in my closet that have the same effect but are easier for running around. I also love these lace up flats!
2. Statement bag. My leopard clutch is one of my go-to’s for statement bags, and it’s an easy way to add some color or pattern without being too bold (since you can always set it down and then it’s no longer part of your outfit). There are so many great clutches out there right now — I’m in love with this embroidered one and this laser cut one, which is on sale for $13.50
3. Jewelry. When all I want is a pair of jeans and a basic tee, jewelry is my best friend. Throw on an oversized watch and a few dainty necklaces layered up, and you suddenly look put together.
4. Outerwear. Although it’s not always season friendly, layers instantly make your outfit look and feel more purposeful and put together. In the summer months, try a denim or khaki vest, in the fall and spring you can wear an anorak or leather jacket, and in the winter months a pretty wool coat is perfect.
Now go be less boring than just a t-shirt and jeans!

Fantastic parka, just the kind that I always have in my closet. I like your high heels too and how they add a nice pop of colour to this outfit.
