Last year was my first year at Fashion Week in NYC. I’ve seen people going for years, and I knew that the expectation for stepping up your fashion game was high. I packed all my highest heels and and nicest things, and by the end of day one I realized that actually….anything goes. And by the last day, I had busted out my sneakers (see the look here) to give my feet a much needed rest.

This time around I was smarter, and started my first day in sneakers. You’re on your feet so much of the day, and although heels are a must for some events, sneakers for others are totally acceptable.

I put together this sneaker and skirt look, and then paired it with a crisp button down blouse and some gold jewelry to keep it a little dressier.

I bought this pair of white sneakers two years ago and they were my go-to year round for a small, comfy pair of white sneaks. They’ve gotten a little worn out after so much wear, so I picked up this new pair from Ecco the week before Fashion Week and I’m in love with them.

The leather is so soft, the cut and shape are perfect for wearing with everything from skirts, dresses, jeans, and shorts, and they come in a bunch of colors including this fabulous brown leather. I also found last season’s for under $100 right here, and they’re basically the same!

Also if you need tips on wearing sneakers with dresses or skirts, I wrote a post about it here!

I love those sneakers! I’ve been looking for new white sneakers to replace my adidas and I love how simple and sleek those are! I was wondering though Merrick if you find them comfortable enough to wear without socks? I prefer going sockless with sneakers and so I love it when they’re soft and breathable so as to avoid blisters and sweaty smelly feet lol

Yes! They feel like you have socks on – seriously. They’re so soft inside. The leather is buttery soft on the inside and the outside. I’m all about no socks too — not wearing socks here!

Good to know! Yes, I feel like a sock peeking out totally ruins the look of a nice pair of sneakers. Plus they’re so hot and restricting on my toes haha. Anyways thanks for the info!

Hello. Did you use a different slip/liner underneath than what is shown on the product’s website? The one shown is so short, and i would love your tips. Thanks!

Perfect choice! And for the rest of the look too. You look so elegant!
