Brave

YOU GUYS. Are you seeing what I’m seeing??

This is me. Taking outfit pictures….OUTSIDE.

For years I’ve seen all the big-kid bloggers brave enough to go outside and take pictures, but until now I’ve never mustered up the courage to do it. I like to be inside in the safety and comfort of my own bedroom, with nobody able to peek through their blinds and see me doing stupid poses (like anyone cares, but still…my imagination runs wild).  If I had a nice fenced in backyard, I would be out there in a heartbeat. Alas, I’m forced to stand in the center of about nine different apartment complexes and push that camera remote button as fast as it will go, then run back inside before anyone sees.

But today I grabbed my camera, marched myself outside, and started taking pictures before I could change my mind. And you know what? It wasn’t all that bad. No one laughed, no one gawked out of their windows, in fact, I didn’t see a single person. It was a pretty good first run… I may get up the courage to do it again sometime. Maybe.

Oh, by the way, the whole reason I even took these photos is because I made this orange top. Recognize the fabric from the LA pile? It was my second shot at a dolman sleeved top, and this time I made a tutorial, just for you. It’s coming tomorrow.

Standby.

  • That shirt is DARLING! Well done. It's a nice color on you, too.

  • C'mon! People stand around like that all the time! 😉

Also, I want that shirt for Christmas.

  • Also, where's the promised tutorial for this??? Someday I might mess it up on my sewing machine!

That, or I'll beg my lovely MIL to make it for me for Christmas. That way you don't have to 🙂 It looks like it'll hide my mommy pooch quite nicely.

  • I love the shirt! You've inspired me to learn to sew. I even found some classes at a local fabric store…which I'll take just as I'm through with this graduate certificate program I've committed myself to.

  • Cute pictures and I'm excited for the tutorial!

  • Yes, you are brave, the day looked perfect for being outside. Your top turned out really great. I agree with Janssen. The color is great on you. Not everyone can wear it.

  • You go girl!

  • Oh merrick it turned out so cute! I love it in that fabric! Maybe when we have our sewing party you can help me make one that doesn't look like a 5 year old made it 🙂

  • Love that top with that fabric! And your pics turned out great! Welcome to the world of hoping and praying that not one single sole walks by as you are taking photos of yourself. I know the feeling! But you totally rocked it.
