Wow. How are you already two months old?
The last few weeks have been the most fun so far. Honestly, for the first few weeks of your life you were pretty boring. Yes, I could still stare at you all day, and most of the time I did, but you didn’t do much except for sleep and eat. But now as a little personality develops inside of you and shows through a little more every day, I find that each day is more fun than the previous one.
Only a few days after your one month birthday I was putting you down for a nap and as I smiled down at you, you looked me right in the eyes and smiled back. My eyes filled with tears and at that moment I felt happier in my role as a mother than ever before.
In the last month your legs have become really strong and you’re trying to stand up all the time. The other day I leaned you against the couch and you actually stood on your own for a few seconds before your knees buckled. And a few days after that you were sitting on Dad’s lap and as he helped you practice sitting up, you somehow sat on your own for nearly ten seconds! Not only are your legs getting stronger, but your little voice is getting stronger as well. Squealing and squawking are your new favorite thing, and we think those sounds are the cutest thing in the world. It’s amazing how your little body is working so hard and learning all these important things. We’re doing everything we can to help you learn and grow, and it’s a miracle to watch it happen.
You continue to be the best baby on the planet. We’ve been feeding you from a bottle at least once a day — mostly at night so your feedings take twenty five minutes instead of an hour — and you’ve been doing so well with that. Some moms tell me their baby won’t come near a bottle so we’re feeling really grateful that you do. It makes my life a lot easier. As of a week ago, you’re consistently sleeping six hour stretches at night, meaning we’re down to just one feeding per night, and that’s the best thing in the world. We have to laugh when people who once told us “just wait til you have a baby” now have to say, “just wait til you have a second baby!” Keep up the good work — you’re making us look like great parents.
