Portrait Of The Artist

I took photos for one of my pregnancy paintings a few months ago, and then about a month ago I spent a day and painted it. I was really happy with the outcome even after showing it to my teacher this past week. In talking to him, I mentioned I wanted to enter it into the Spring Salon this year and that’s when he changed his mind about how much he liked it. We talked about it and he pointed out a few improvements I could make, and eventually we decided it would be better if I just repainted it.

So I’m repainting it and taking my time, making a lot of adjustments, and trying to make a much better painting. Here’s day one of this painting:

Once it’s finished I’ll show you the old painting and the new painting. The difference is unbelievable. I’m loving how this one is turning out so far…

…I’ll keep you posted.

Doesn't that drive you nuts to redo the same painting? I hate doing the same thing again. This one is beautiful – looking forward to seeing the comparison!

  2. Packrat says:

This is wonderful! You have captured yourself so well (at least from the photos you've posted). I'm glad you didn't destroy the first painting. I'd like to see the comparison, too.

looking at your work does nothing for my artist self-esteem… 😉

    you are so, so amazing.

  4. Oh my gosh I love it! I first thought this was a picture before I scrolled down. haha Good job!
