Dear Peanut,

I’ve been a little slow this month, and now here you are almost 6 1/2 months old. So sorry.

This month your bag of tricks has nearly doubled. You’re now sitting completely on your own, scooting and rolling around the room, getting up on your hands and knees to rock back and forth, reaching for us, recognizing your name, and jabbering in the sweetest baby voice. We’ve been trying to get you to say “dada”, and after weeks of encouragement you finally said it last night. I have never seen such a happy Dad. You’ll mostly only talk when we’re not paying attention and you’ve traveled away into your own mind. Last night as the three of us sat in the family room, your dad and I talking, you quietly whispered to yourself, “Dada, dada, dada, dada.”

Sadly, your acid reflux has not gotten any better with age. We put you on medication for it, and you seem completely comfortable, but the throwing up continues. However, after one week on your meds you began sleeping a blissful twelve hours through the night. I had told myself prior to getting the medication that if it helped your sleeping, or helped your puking, I would be happy with one or the other. Looks like it was sleeping; I’m not going to complain about that. However, the laundry basket has never been so full.

I feel like being your mom becomes more fun every day. Watching and helping you learn has been the most rewarding and exciting experience. I wouldn’t trade being home with you for a million trillion dollars; but thanks for still letting me get some painting in.

Love, Mommy

  1. Brynlee spit up all day long. We couldn't go anywhere without a diaper bag full of thick burp cloths. I thought it would never end, but it stopped pretty suddenly at 8 months. It seriously was the worst, though, and I can totally relate! It will go away soon!

Such a cutie pie. Hopefully, the spitting up will stop soon. It is super nice that Peanut sleeps well.

  3. Chelsea says:

How sweet! I'm sure Daddy was so happy!

  4. Bart says:

I love how smiley he is. And happy day about the sleeping. I think J and I are done having kids. We can't risk having one who isn't as good a sleeper as our first..

  5. Gosh Merrick. He is adorable. Look at that smile. Also, congratulations on this current pregnancy and hopefully God will grant you a little girl this time around. =)
