A month or so ago, I saw Leanne at church and she was wearing this fabulous striped dress. I asked her where she got it, and when she told me she’d made it I was simultaneously impressed and not at all surprised. Of course she had made it, and of course it was amazing.

I thought about that dress all week — I’m not kidding. Finally I’d had enough, so I jumped on fabric.com and bought myself some darling silver and ivory striped fabric. Then it took all the self control I had to NOT make that dress when I was supposed to be painting. I held strong…are you impressed? I am.

I think I waited a total of 24 hours after my art show was over before I started on this dress. I spent nearly the whole day on it since I had many interruptions in the form of a tiny boy handing me books and signing ” please read.” Of course I didn’t mind.

The dress was finally finished around eleven pm so these pictures are anything but well lit. But the show must go on.

As you might notice from her post, Leanne made up her pattern completely. So that meant I had to make up my pattern completely. Fortunately, with a few helpful tips from Leanne, it turned out exactly how I envisioned. I. LOVE. IT.

I’m already working on a second one in an awesome dark green fabric that has been sitting in my fabric box for almost two years. Thanks for the inspiration, Leanne!
