Patterned pants are a fun statement piece for any closet. When paired with basic pieces, they just add a bright and bold element to a fall outfit.
Do you have any patterned pants in your closet? I’ve added some this fall and they’ve been so fun to style and add an interesting element to my outfit. Here are a few ways to style patterned pants in the fall!
I got THESE ONES from Target a few weeks ago, and although they’re mostly sold out, I found a few similar pairs HERE, HERE, AND HERE. I’m also obsessed with THIS PAIR from Anthropologie, although they’re a much higher price point, and my favorite print is sold out (it was a cool geometric rabbit print).
How to Wear Patterned Pants
This season is all about the statement pants, so if you’ve picked up a pair of statement pants too (whether they’re printed or not), here are a few ways to wear them.
They make a great teacher outfit!
1. Try them with a bodysuit!
When I’m wearing fuller pants, I like to balance the top with something more fitted so my shape doesn’t get lost. This black bodysuit is a new purchase this season and it’s BUTTERY soft, and such a good fit. I paired with some black heeled sandals. I tried with black boots, but it felt too heavy to have a black long sleeve top AND have my entire foot covered, so I opted for a shoe that showed some of my foot and leg, and that helped the outfit feel less heavy.

2. Yes, you can wear with a jacket!
This is the same outfit as number 1, except with a denim jacket over the top, just to show you that it can work! I chose a dark wash jacket so it wasn’t so big of a contrast from the dark bodysuit, and I chose a cropped length so I still got some shape even with the wide leg pants. A jacket too much longer would give me more of a boxy look.

3. Try with a denim shirt
A denim shirt is a really good neutral option that you can wear with basically anything…it’s like wearing a pair of jeans! So instead of jeans and a fun shirt, try a jean shirt and a fun pair of pants! I added some dark oxblood colored oxfords and love the fun feel they add to the outfit.

4. Keep them classy with a white button up shirt
If you’re going for more of a professional feel, try a white button up shirt with your printed pants! It keeps things super classic, and I finished the look with a pair of neutral loafers. I love this look for the office. You could even add a fitted shorter blazer, if you need a layer.

5. Try these pants with a cozy sweater
I wanted to see if I could wear these pants with an oversized top that wasn’t fully tucked in, and I love how this outfit turned out. The sweater isn’t TOO oversized, and I half tucked the front to make sure my waist was defined and visible, and then I added heeled ankle boots in a color similar to my skin so I got a little lift and an elongated leg. This is a great option for fall teacher outfits!
