Fall is around the corner, and quickly approaching for some of you! Here is how to take summer outfits and transition them to fall.

I’m all about having a versatile wardrobe. I think a lot of pieces should be easily transitioned from season to season. Today I’m talking about how to transition an outfit from summer to fall without adding or buying too many pieces.

How to Transition an Outfit From Summer to Fall

Summer to Fall: Printed Blouse

  • HOW I STYLED IT IN SUMMER: The light wash jeans, blouse, and sandals is probably an outfit I’d wear during the summer to a lunch with friends or date night. I would absolutely wear cut off shorts instead of the jeans on super hot days.
  • HOW TO SWITCH IT FOR FALLSwap the light wash jeans for a darker pair — you could do dark wash skinny jeans, black jeans, or gray jeans! Then ditch the sandals for a pair of flats, and add a jacket for some structure and a nice layer.

Summer to Fall: Comfy Dress

  • HOW I STYLED IT IN SUMMER: I’ve worn summer dresses (especially my Merrick White Collection ones) all summer long with a cute pair of sandals and some basic earrings. Easiest summer mom outfit that’s cute AND comfy.
  • HOW TO SWITCH IT FOR FALL: You can absolutely switch it up for fall with an easy layer, like a pullover sweater, and then swap the sandals for some cute fall sneakers. I tied the waist tie around the dress and tucked the sweater into the waist tie to make it shorter.

Summer to fall: Leggings Outfits

  • HOW I STYLED THEM FOR SUMMER: These are super lightweight leggings that were some of my go-tos for summer. I wore them with a basic tee, and then finished the look with cute sneakers, a baseball hat, and a crossbody bag. It was an easy and cute summer outfit! If you leggings were too hot, I did lightweight shorts instead.
  • HOW I STYLED THEM FOR FALL: Instead of regular leggings, I switched to leather leggings for a more fall-ish look, then added a cardigan. Super simple and fall appropriate! You could still do the baseball hat and crossbody bag with it, but I decided to keep it basic.

Summer to fall: midi skirt

  • HOW I STYLED IT FOR SUMMER: A midi skirt was an essential during the summer for me. It’s an easy outfit that feels pulled together, but is super easy to wear. I paired it with a basic tee and sandals, but you could also do a graphic tee and sneakers!
  • HOW TO STYLE IT FOR FALLInstead of a t-shirt, try a cropped sweater that you can half tuck or not. Then swap the sandals for an ankle boot. Simple and perfect for fall.
