The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is now live to the public and anyone can shop, whether you’re a Nordstrom Cardholder or not. Here are my tried and true must-buys from the sale.
Have you checked out the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (I have a huge round-up of favorites HERE)?? It’s a huge sale of things that are coming out for next season. Usually a sale happens at the end of the season, but this is different because the items go on sale at the beginning of the season.
There are lots of good pieces in the sale, and Nordstrom always has lots of good basics and closet essentials. But today I want to narrow down your shopping list by showing you my top ten favorites from the sale. These are all items I’ve purchased in the past and have loved and worn year after year. They are my tried and true favorites.
Some of them have been updated over the years, so if it’s slightly different than the version I have been using and loving, I’ll share that in the details.
They are slim in the shaft so they don’t give you a bulky ankle, they have a perfect almond toe, and they’re extremely comfortable. They also work for tall, petite, and girls with wide feet. They’re true to size, and work even with thick socks during the winter.
They take a few wears to break in, but they soften up after that and they’re extremely comfortable. I have worn them walking miles and miles all over New York City, Chicago, Paris, and many other cities, and have never had any issues.
The original ones were discontinued last year and have been out of stock for almost a year, but somehow they got re-stocked last week and are the same price at Nordstrom Rack as they are in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, so you can choose between the old version which has elastic on the shaft, or the new version that has a side zipper. I heard from a reader last week that she has both the zipper and non-zipper version and reaches for the zipper version more now since they’re easier to get on and off. So that’s one opinion — take it or leave it!
They are so comfortable, have a great ankle length, and a comfortable drawstring waist. They’re made out of athletic material that has great rebound so you don’t get saggy knees or booty after a few hours of wearing.
They are a great alternative to leggings or jeans, and I especially love them for travel.
A FEW POSTS THAT MIGHT BE HELPFUL FOR STYLING YOUR BLACK JOGGERS:
I heard amazing things about Natori bras for years, so finally I bought one two years ago during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale when they were discounted. I tried a few styles from this brand, and there was one clear winner in the bunch, and it was THIS ONE.
True to size. I wear a size XS. If you’re in between sizes, size down!
These leggings have been a long time favorite. They’re a great pair of leggings that you can wear to exercise, but also wear with sweaters and tees during the year.
They’re a nice soft, brushed athletic fabric, so they aren’t shiny and look too athletic.
They also have a really high waist that holds everything in, and they’re long so they’re great for tall girls. If you’re shorter, use THIS TECHNIQUE to shorten them, or get them hemmed.
Of all the beauty items in the sale, this lip kit is my very favorite. It’s a lip kit in the perfect neutral color, and is perfect for everyday. It comes with a pencil, lipstick, and gloss, and it’s a must have for me!
These are some of my all time favorite pajamas. They are so incredibly soft and luxe feeling, and they last for years.
I buy myself a new pair every year during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and now I have a pretty big selection cause they stay in such great condition.
They come in a few style options — long sleeve with long pants (I’d recommend sizing up in these if you’re taller cause the pants in an XS are a little short on my 5’6″ height), short sleeve with cropped pants (that’s what I’m wearing above), long sleeve with short shorts, and short sleeve with shorts, so you’ve got lots of options!
This brand also has a ribbed pajamas set, but I tried it on in store and it felt cheap. Definitely not the same quality and luxe feel of the pair I’m wearing above.
runs TTS – get your normal bra size! I wear a 34C.
I bought these sports bras last year during the Anniversary Sale cause I was looking for a sports bra that clasped in the back and didn’t have those stupid pads that fall out or fold over in the wash.
These were a MAJOR WIN and quickly because my favorite sports bra.
They have underwire so they’re super supportive, but you honestly can’t even feel the underwire! They are so comfy. The straps are also super soft and thick and stretchy so they don’t cut into your shoulders while you work out. And the clasp in the back makes them really easy to pull off after a workout.
Run big, size down one size. I’m wearing a size 0/25, and my normal jeans size is a 26.
I bought these jeans two years ago during the sale and still have and wear them ALL THE TIME. They’re sturdy material, fit so well (especially in the waist) and they’re a perfect dark denim.
They’re also fitted nicely all the way down the leg so they fit well into boots, or you can tuck them into taller socks when wearing ankle boots.
This long sleeve white tee is a fantastic closet basic that’s super affordable and so luxurious and comfy. It’s a great white tee that you can wear by itself or layer with a sweater or tunic or poncho or shawl in the fall and winter.
Runs TTS. I wear a size XS, which is my normal jacket size.
This jacket is the perfect lightweight jacket to wear during the cooler month for the gym or running. I have to wear something warmer in the winter, but this jacket is perfect for fall and spring when you need a layer but don’t want anything bulky.
It’s super sleek and fitted so it doesn’t flap around and bother you, and it has pockets and thumb holes.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is amost over! Here are my tried and true must-buys from the sale.

These are my new boots from this year’s sale – and I love them! They look so great in person, are waterproof, and are the perfect option if you’re looking for a dressier boot.
I would pick these over the Chelsea Boots if you’re looking for a better office-appropriate type boot.
They also come in a Taupe Suede and a Cognac Leather – ALL are waterproof!
My whole team tried on these jeans at our sale try-on (you can see it HERE) and we were all big fans.
Those of us wearing size 6 and under thought we should maybe size up 1 size (I was in the 0 and would’ve been more comfortable in the 2), but those 8 and up were happy with their sizing. Because they are cropped, they weren’t a win for Laura who is 5’11, but she loved the fit otherwise!
These were another team try-on WIN for us! We all loved them and found our true size fit best. You can see us try them on HERE.
These jeans are stretchy, but the “ab-solution” material still gives you structure and holds you in. The dark wash is flattering and can be easily dressed up or down.
We all took our normal size and were happy with the fit – they were a little cropped on Laura (5’11), but not to the point where she couldn’t buy them.
Runs true to size and comes in narrow, regular and wide calf
These riding boots are such a closet staple. Riding boots have come in and out of style, but these are a classic and will be “in” forever. They’re well-made and comfy too!
What I love about these boots is that they come in narrow, regular and wide calf in all sizes. I hear from so many followers that they can’t find good riding boots to fit around different leg shapes, so these are a great option.
If you’re wondering if they’re worth getting, I have a huge styling blog post with them RIGHT HERE that will give you some outfit inspiration.
This bra has changed year over year, but has always been a “must buy” for me. My favorite feature is that it clasps in the back, because I hate pulling off a sweaty sports bra over my head post-workout.
I find it supportive enough to run in and do all my strength training!
The Nordstrom sale can be totally overwhelming, so I hope this is helpful to show you my tried and true favorites!

Wow, I absolutely loved reading this post! As a student, I totally get how overwhelming it can be to juggle school and looking put-together for the first day. Your tips for easy and cute back-to-school outfits are so helpful! I really love the idea of combining comfort and style—especially when you have a busy day ahead. By the way, speaking of school and things like preparing for the first day, I recently came across an essay about all summer in a day paragraph that really helped me understand the themes in a deeper way. If you’re interested, it might be useful to check it out here: All Summer in a Day Essay. It’s a great resource for anyone needing some extra insight into the story!
Anyway, back to the outfits—thanks again for these amazing suggestions! I can’t wait to try some of these looks myself.
