Need a concise list of fall staples? As we head into fall, I’m leaning into those tried-and-true fall staples that work for school drop-offs, date nights, and everything in between. These are the pieces you’ll see on repeat.
Fall is hands-down my favorite season for getting dressed. The air is crisp, the colors are rich, and there’s something about layering that just feels effortless. Over the years, I’ve found a handful of pieces that I reach for again and again, no matter what’s trending.
They’re comfortable, versatile, and easy to style in different ways, which means they’re basically the MVPs of my wardrobe. In this post, I’m sharing the seasonal staples you’ll spot me wearing all through fall, plus why they’re worth adding to your closet.
Fall Closet Staples
Shoes
- Chelsea Boots. These are my most worn shoe when the weather turns cold. I’ve had them for 4 years and wear them with long pants, cropped pants, and even skirts and dresses. You can see me wearing them here.
- Loafer. I love a classic loafer and it feels so fall to me. As soon as I start wanting to dress for fall, I add these shoes. Here are a few ways to wear them.
- Brown sneakers. These are fall’s biggest sneaker trend and I’ll be wearing them a lot! I just got this pair and shared a few ways to wear them here.
- Tall Boots. I love a tall boot with dresses or skirts in the fall, and I purchased this new pair for fall. I’ll be wearing them a ton, in addition to my riding boots and my black leather heeled boots. They’re all classic staples.
Jeans
- Dark wash jeans. These are the favorite that I bought earlier this year and will absolutely be wearing a ton this fall. They’re a perfect dark wash that’s not TOO dark, and they fit like a dream. You can see me wearing them here.
- Long crop mid rinse. When the weather gets cooler, and I start wearing ankle boots, I want a longer cropped length of jean that keeps me from having a gap between my shoe and pant. The 28″ length of this jean is perfect for boots. You can see me wearing them here.
Sweaters
- Classic Pullover. We love sweater weather, and this classic pullover sweater is perfect for fall weather. You can toss it over your shoulders when it’s still too warm.
- Classic Cardigan. I wear a classic cardigan buttoned up, rather than open over a tee or tank, and I think it looks so chic and classic with a pair of jeans or a skirt.
Jackets
- Suede Jacket. Suede is always big for fall, but this year it’s especially big. Suede jackets are everywhere, and whether you go faux suede or real suede, I think you won’t regret adding one to your closet. I’ll be wearing mine on repeat.
- Trench coat. Trench coats are classic, and they’re a staple I’ll be wearing as the weather cools.
- Barn Jacket. Barn jackets are a trend we haven’t seen as much in a long time, but they’re a classic style that adds a fun element to any fall outfit. I’ve already bought two and plan to wear them a ton.
