Trying to figure out colors that go well with olive green? This year we’ll be talking a lot about color in your outfits on Merrick’s Art, and today we’re talking all about one of my favorite colors for spring, and which colors you can pair with it.
Olive green is one of my favorite colors to wear, especially in the spring. My olive jackets are some of my most worn pieces, and I get questions all the time about colors that go well with olive green, so today we’re diving into it!
I’ll be sharing a new color every month and showing you different colors that you can pair with it.
We all know that black, white, and cream go well with olive, but can other colors go well with it? The answer is a resounding YES.
Colors that go well with olive green
I’m showing you all of these with the same pair of olive green pants, just so it was easier for me to take 16 different pictures. But if you have an olive jacket, olive shirt, olive green dress or shoes or coat, all of these color combinations STILL WORK!
BLUE and DENIM with Olive Green
Blue is next to green on the color wheel, so of course they go together! You could do denim OR another shade of blue.
GRAY and OLIVE GREEN
Gray is a perfect neutral that you may not think of right away, but works with literally everything. The coolness of the gray is a perfect contrast against the richer olive tone. I absolutely love this combo. If you have an olive green jacket, try it with a pair of gray jeans!
NAVY BLUE and OLIVE
Here’s a super easy combo! And I even threw in a little stripe with this sweater to remind you that, YES, you can wear olive and stripes! They are a super classic match made in heaven.
SAGE GREEN and OLIVE GREEN
I love a monochromatic look, but I wouldn’t pair just any green with olive green. Sage green is soft and pretty, and looks great against olive. Neon or grass green would not. You could also try a really dark forest green – that could be gorgeous!
PLUM with OLIVE GREEN
These rich colors are perfect when paired together. This is a very fall colored outfit, so I probably wouldn’t wear it in the spring, but I love how these two colors compliment each other.
BLUSH PINK and OLIVE GREEN
I have always loved blush and olive together! Olive green always feels more masculine, like military green, whereas blush pink feels so light and feminine, so it feels like a fun juxtaposition in an outfit.
BLACK and OLIVE GREEN
Again, we all know that black can go with anything, but when I see black and olive together, it’s just so GOOD. It feels rich and striking and perfect.
TAN and OLIVE GREEN
Tan is another color that’s neutral and goes with everything! You could do light tan, bright tan, darker brown…any of those will work well with olive green. I added a pop of leopard print just to add a little fun to the outfit.
RUST or BURNT ORANGE with OLIVE GREEN
I was a little hesitant about pairing these together, because I didn’t want it to come off as “Halloween-ish,” but it totally doesn’t! I think keeping the orange color more brown-ish/red helps it feel more fall and less Halloween.
HOT PINK with OLIVE GREEN
Hello!! This color combo is SPECTACULAR. I love how this outfit came together. I don’t think I would have thought of this, except that I had blush and olive in my mind, and was also thinking about Valentine’s Day this week. This is for sure a color combo I will wear again.
FLORALS and OLIVE GREEN
I’ve shared a lot of solid colors, but don’t forget that you can wear prints with olive green too! This floral pattern is perfect with an olive green jacket or skirt or pants.
WHITE and OLIVE GREEN
White goes with EVERYTHING…we all know this! But sometimes it’s easy to forget even the simplest combinations. This one is gorgeous, and I chose a top with a dramatic sleeve so it added a little more interest.
MUSTARD YELLOW and OLIVE GREEN
Green and yellow are next to each other on the color wheel, so I obviously had to try the color combo! I chose a mustard yellow rather than a neon or canary or lemon yellow, and I love how it looks! Would you wear this??
CREAM and OLIVE GREEN
If you’re feeling like something neutral but don’t want black or white, cream is a great option! It’s simple and pretty and easy.
BURGUNDY and OLIVE
Burgundy and olive and both variations of traditional green and red, which are opposite each other on the color wheel and thus are complimentary colors. Definitely a good match, and gorgeous together!
LILAC and OLIVE GREEN
I’ve been obsessed with this color combination since I put together THIS OUTFIT last year. It’s an unexpected but gorgeous color that I think everyone needs to try.
Similar Green Wide Leg Pants
If you’re looking for more options at different price points here are a few pants super similar to the ones I’m wearing above!
I hope this shows you just how versatile olive green can be! And remember, I just showed with pants, but you can take anything your closet in these colors and pair them together. Get creative!
