After all the fun and feasting of Thanksgiving on Thursday, it’s tradition for us to put up the Christmas tree the next day. Growing up, my family was never big into the Black Friday shopping, so we would spend the day inside making our home festive and cheery in preparation for Christmas. I’ve carried on this tradition with my little family, and this year has been especially magical since Peanut is old enough to appreciate traditions, understand the real Christmas story, and believe in Santa (although I’m pretty sure he’s already a bit skeptical about the whole situation).
Since we are down in Arizona with my in-laws this year, we put up the tree a few days early this year, but it was just as fun and magical. My very favorite part every year is pulling out all of our ornaments. When we travel, we have tried to pick up an ornament that represents our trip, and my parents have done the same, so our tree is full of memories and ornaments that represent special moments (in addition to some regular old Christmas balls!).
This year, Lisa Leonard sent us some beautiful monogram ornaments for our boys that have added a special something to our tree. I let Peanut put them on on the tree after the rest of the ornaments were on, and he picked a perfect place for them at the bottom of the tree, right next to each other. I’m excited to pass these, and other ornaments we gather over the years, along to my boys when they are grown and have families and Christmas trees of their own.
Lisa Leonard is offering 15% off everything in her shop through December 5th with code hollyjolly, so snag yourself some pretty ornaments for your babies, yourself, or whoever really!
