We had a pretty mellow celebration for Peanut’s birthday yesterday since we’ll be celebrating next weekend with all the family.

He celebrated by sleeping in nearly forty minutes, and before Philip took off for work we went in to get him and sang happy birthday. He just sat there with a big grin on his face while we sang, obviously wondering what the heck we were doing but enjoying it all the same.

After a quick breakfast, we went to library story time where Peanut was sung to once again by the storytime librarians. He had no idea they were singing to him since I forced him to raise his hand to announce it was his birthday, but he smiled and danced along anyway. And then tried to kiss my friend sitting next to us (although I don’t think the two were necessarily related…).

Philip came home for a lunch and brought with him a delicious sandwich from Einstein Bagel (where has that italian chicken panini been all my life??). There was more singing of Happy Birthday, and Peanut continued to bask in the happiness that was his birthday.

Peanut and I had dinner alone since Philip had to leave town for work, so I made personal pizzas. They were a hit, especially when I stuck a candle in his, although he was no mood for pictures when a delicious dinner was just out of reach!

After dinner, we were graced with Auntie Brit’s presence and presents. Peanut was thrilled about all the tissue paper involved.

And to top it all off, I asked him, “how old are you?” and he raised one finger. What a perfect day.

Both stories made me cry – happy tears, of course. Happy birthday to a cutie pie.
