I’m pretty sure that every woman is on the hunt for the best white t-shirt. After washing and wearing and trying a bunch, these are the three best white t-shirts I’ve found.

Are you looking for the best white t-shirt?

There are a lot of brands that profess to have the best white t-shirt, but when it comes down to it, they’re just not the best for one reason or another — fabric, fit, quality…any number of issues.

But the biggest issue that most women deal with is that most white t-shirts are totally sheer. No one wants a white t-shirt that shows off their undergarments.

My white t-shirt winner from a few years ago hasn’t held up super well

I’ve tried TONS of white shirts over the years, and even did a large round up of white shirts back a few years ago. I chose my Everlane tee as the winner, and although is a great material, it has thinned over time and is no longer totally opaque for me. Such a bummer.

But I’ve continued to try other white tees, and washed and worn them over and over, I’ve found three really fantastic ones that are about as opaque as white tees get.

What kind of bra do I wear with white t-shirts?

Nude. Always nude. If you wear a nude bra with any of these tees, it will not show through at all.

My three favorite white t-shirts

1. Alternative Cotton Modal Tee

This has been my go-to white tee for ages. It’s super soft and comfortable, a great non-oversized fit that’s perfect for tucking in, half tucking, or wearing alone, and the v-neck isn’t too low.

I have owned it for almost four years, and although it has gotten a little pilling over time (I mean, c’mon…4 years), it’s still opaque, and modal is the softest t-shirt material you can get.

It’s a little bit pricey for a white t-shirt, at just under $40, but I have washed it and worn it dozens of times and it’s still in great condition, so I can honestly say it’s worth every single penny.

Also, remember — $10 white tees are that price for a reason. They’re cheaply made, the material will shrink and warp in the wash, and you’ll have wasted $10. You get what you pay for!

2. Zyia Active Go-To Tee

This tee is an athletic material, crazy soft, longer sleeves, and a scooped hemline that’s amazing for half tucking or knotting at your waist.

This tee was in my original white tee roundup a few years ago, and although it was very opaque, I didn’t love the athletic fit. But this year I started wearing it again and knotting it at the waist, and fell in love with it!

The longer sleeve is really flattering, the material is crazy soft, and the longer length makes it good for leggings too!

3. Abercrombie white bodysuit

This is my new favorite go-to. It’s a bodysuit, and perfectly fitted and stretchy and super soft. If you’re afraid of bodysuits, don’t be. They’re the best for that perfect full tuck look without any bunching or bulk from a tucked in tee.

Super fitted shirts tend to be the most transparent, but not this one. I find that it’s slightly more sheer in the back than it is in the front (just a heads up) but in the front it’s almost completely opaque. I’m a huge fan.

I wear a size SMALL.
