Now that I’m an adult, I’m totally over dressing up for Halloween. I loved it as a kid, but now that I’m a mom with kids, I’d much rather spend my time making awesome costumes for them. But when Halloween rolls around, I do like to have something festive to wear, cause I’m not a total scrooge about it.
I recently ran across this Asos Bat Sweatshirt and I thought it was perfect. Simple, but fun and festive. Also, it’s not so Halloween-ish that I can’t wear it more than once a year.
I’ve been itching to try out the new fabric spray paint that My Next Style sent me and this the perfect opportunity.

TUTORIAL:
Step 1. Draw out your bat on freezer paper. Make sure it’s as big as you’d like it to be across your chest.

Step 2. Cut out the bat shape and iron it on to the sweater, shiny side down.

Step 3. Slide a piece of cardboard or thick paper into your shirt so the paint doesn’t bleed through, and cover up the rest of your shirt. Spray one layer of fabric spray paint and let dry.
*note: the spray paint is a little hard to control (like any spray paint), but the paint itself is great quality. It only required one layer, it came out perfectly even, it’s nice and dark black, and it has a really nice hand to it — not stiff at all, unlike the little bottles of fabric paint I’ve always used. It’s absolutely worth the extra effort required to cover up the shirt so it doesn’t get sprayed. (also, they didn’t pay me, or even ask me to write this — I was just really impressed!!)
Once dry, peel off the freezer paper. No heat setting required, but wait 72 hours to wash!

Hi Merrick! my question is the following: do you ever buy clothes online? if so, what web-page do you recomend? I'm trying to look for online selling but chic and classy AND classic at the same time, and its really difficult.

Did you have to order your shoes a half size bigger? I've heard they run small.

How cute! I need to try some of that fabric paint, the finished result looks much better than I would have imagined! I guess I am used to the fabric paint people used to use at high school homecomings that looked pretty bad!
