On our first date, Philip and I drug a big fluffly blue blanket outside into his tiny backyard. We sat out there for hours in the warm summer night, looking up at the stars, flicking bugs off of our blanket, picking blades of grass, endlessly talking, and {possibly} sharing our first kiss. It was sweet, it was romantic, it was perfect.
We found ourselves out on the same blanket many more times that summer, each time better than the last. It made for the best memories.
Once we got married and moved into our condo, we no longer had an enclosed and grassy backyard. Instead, we resorted to our soft bed with feather pillows. We spent our hours there, talking and laughing and being together. But for some reason it just wasn’t the same sitting inside, rather than outside breathing in the night air and searching for shooting stars.
Having a backyard is one of the things I’m most excited for in our new house. I can’t wait to lay under the stars on the same fluffy blue blanket, with Philip next to me.
I’m just hoping our house sells before the summer is over so we can once again enjoy those warm summer nights.
First kiss on the first date…? Merrick, I didn’t know you had a scandalous side to you!! I love outside summer grass sitting too 🙂
