I’ve had a bunch of questions over the last few weeks about how to wear black ankle boots. Brown ankle boots absolutely closet essentials, but so are black ankle boots, and with the right outfits they’re actually really easy to style and look fantastic.
So I teamed up with Nordstrom this morning to share 4 outfits and how you can wear them with black ankle boots.
I used the same pair of boots for all four of my outfits, but there are other styles of black boots that would look amazing with these looks and I’ll share those below each outfit.
Outfit #1: with skinny jeans
With skinny jeans, the outfit possibilities are absolutely endless. You can create a dressed up or dressed down look. Because my boots are flat, they create more of a dressed down look so I paired them with a gray hoodie, dark skinny jeans, and a black leather jacket. A simple and cute look for a casual day.
Since the outfit is so basic, you could wear boots with a little more visual interest, like this pair or this pair!
I love ankle boots with dresses. These low ankle boots with a cut out side are great for styling with dresses, but personally I love a taller ankle boot with a dress a little more. Try these ones or these ones. I also like this flat pair with a dress.
You can style ankle boots with my favorite boyfriend jeans, and a nice low ankle boot is perfect for that. I like a pair that has the cut-outs on the side since it shows a little skin and elongates your legs. These ones are perfect, and I also like this pair! I paired mine with this basic black sweater that’s under $40 and comes in a bunch of other colors.
And black ankle boots work great with black leggings or black jeans! I love love these leggings (they’re lightweight but not see-through, and don’t stretch out, and they’re only $19!), and I paired them with a chambray and a cozy cardigan. Perfect casual fall outfit with black ankle boots, and honestly any style would work with this look — tall, short, cut-out, etc, but I think taller combat-style boots like these ones look particularly good with leggings.

Wow! Great ways to wear black booties. Like the way you wear them with a black leather jacket and dark blue skinnies, as well as the outfit that features floral dress and the same leather jacket, the black jumper and ripped jeans seems too basic, but I like the last one with a draped cardigan, chambray top, and black leggings. Anyway, black ankle boots are perfect for women who want to keep their feet in warm and look cool. I think booties in black color are extremely versatile and easy to style.
