Dealing with plantar fasciitis can be painful and frustrating. After a lot of trial and error, I finally found products that actually helped.
If you’ve ever struggled with plantar fasciitis, you know how hard it can be to find real relief. I’ve tested shoes, inserts, and recovery tools, and not everything works the way it promises. Today I’m sharing the items I bought that have truly made a difference for my plantar fasciitis, plus the ones I’d recommend if you’re dealing with the same thing. I’m also including the running shoes I grabbed (with the recommendation from a qualified shoe store) that have made a huge difference!
Three of the biggest helps for me when the plantar fasciitis got bad:
- Stop running completely for two weeks. I just did the elliptical at the gym. My feet needed time to heal!
- Step into arch supportive shoes IMMEDIATELY when I get out of bed, not even stepping on the floor. The healing that your arches do overnight can get destroyed if you’re stepping onto the floor with flat feet, so step immediately into Oofos or Birkenstocks or any other high arch shoe to give your feet support the second you get out of bed. Consistency with this will pay off, trust me.
- Foot stretches before and after exercising. I’m still doing this, and it’s helped so much. Just google “stretches for plantar fasciitis” and you’ll get a bunch of options.
What I Bought For My Plantar Fasciitis
1. Oofos. The girl at the running shoe store recommended I never go barefoot in my home to help support my higher arch on my feet. These have high arch support and are super squishy. They are my inside-only shoes! I’ve had so many people rave about them, and they are probably the #1 game changer in my pain. They’re like walking on cushy clouds!
2. Shiatsu Foot Massager. I love using this at my desk in the morning after a run. I’m not super consistent at it, but it’s a relaxing ritual that helps my feet feel so much better after my workouts. I’ll also do it in the evenings while I sit on the couch.
3. Brooks Ghost Running Shoes. I tried several different pairs of running shoes at my local running store, and these felt the best! My shoe consultant said I should have an elevated heel when running, and I’ve already noticed a HUGE difference in my pain since using these on my runs and walks.
4. SuperFeet Inserts. These have high arch support, and I wear these inside my running shoes. I could tell when I was running with them for the first time that they’d be a game changer, and they’ve absolutely made a difference.
After about six weeks of consistently using and doing these things, my feet feel great and I’m back to running and almost no pain when walking. I was so concerned when it happened that I’d be dealing with this forever, but these things made a massive difference for me and I plan to continue using and doing all of them to keep my feet feeling good long-term.
