Hard to believe, but this knuckle-baby (Peanut’s hilarious and completely random nickname for Buck) is three months old.

Three things of note this month:

  • He is getting really good at focusing on stuff. His concentration face is so hilarious — crossed eyes, puckered lips, and the most adorable concerned expression.
  • He’s literally the world’s happiest baby. Every morning he wakes up with the biggest smile on his face and can’t help but make everyone around him smile.
  • His hair gets more out of control by the day.
And of course if you want to see a bazillion more photos of this chubby face, hop on over to my instagram and follow along!

I normally don't comment but I had to add this – it's called Who-hair. As in little Cindy Lou Who from The Grinch. My sisters and I all had it and my Dad dubbed the sticking-up-from-the-head-hair: Who-hair.

Dear Peanut,

The last three months have whizzed by. While going to visit a friend the other day, I ran into a lady with a two day old baby almost identical to the size you were when you were born. Looking at that teeny tiny human being it was impossible to believe that only three months ago you were that small. You’ve actually grown so much that you’ve now landed yourself in the eighty fifth percentile for height, growing a whopping 5 inches in just two months. Even the nurse was impressed.

This month we took you on your very first trip down to Las Vegas. Despite finding out that you are very allergic to cats, the trip went really smoothly, and you were an angel as always. Then just days before your three month birthday we took you on your first plane flight. I used to never worry about flying, but now that I have a family to take care of, every bit of turbulence scares me to death. Your dad says it’s okay if the plane crashes as long as we’re all flying together, but it doesn’t make me feel much better. You, however, were a wonderful traveler. You schmoozed all the passengers around us with your big smiles and happy giggles so no one had to hate us or throw us dirty looks, thankfully.

Life with you continues to get more fun every day, especially since you’ve started laughing. It’s a daily challenge to get you to laugh and it seems that something that makes you giggle uncontrollably one day brings blank stares the next. But that makes it all the more fun. You also rolled over for the first time a few weeks ago, so now we’re doing lots of tummy time and cheering you on every time you push yourself over.

The other night after you were in bed, your dad and I sat in our bed trying to remember what life was like before you came along. It was only three months ago, but it seems like you’ve been with us forever.

Boy, you make us happy.

Happy three months, little peabody.

Love, Mama

I hadn't heard that he was was really allergic to cats. Part of me thinks "what a hassle" and part of me thinks "I hope our kids are allergic to dogs and cats so I never have to get them." I am a bad person.

  2. Carole says:

Those are words that Landen will never speak.

I can't believe how big he's getting!! So fun to see him starting to catch up with your "dog."

Happy more-than-third birthday today, Merrick!! Love you!!

  3. Bart says:

Cute guy! And he IS getting big. I just compared his 1 month photo to this one and there's a very noticeable difference.

  4. Packrat says:

Such a sweet post. Sorry your little one is allergic to cats. He might outgrown that someday.

  5. Angela says:

He is so cute Merrick. They grow up way too fast. I remember when Morgan was 3 months old and now she is 8 (going on 15). Love the pictures. It's a great day to have a birthday! Hope you have a great day!!
