The 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is only a week and a half away and it’s always the biggest sale of the year!
It can be crazy and a bit overwhelming because everyone’s in a frenzy about it, so let me help you understand the sale, share what I think is coming, and my favorites from the 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Catalog.
Why is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale such a big deal?
It’s a big deal because brand new items are on sale BEFORE they are listed full price. It’s backward from every other sale, which are last season’s items that are picked through and sold out in many sizes.
During the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale you get next season’s items on sale, rather than last season’s items on sale. Once the three week sale is over, all these items for next season go back up to their normal prices.
What kinds of pieces go on sale during the Anniversary Sale?
You’ll mostly see items for fall, like boots, jeans, sweaters, jackets, and coats.
But there are always lots of sneakers, t-shirts, and tops that you can wear during the summer too!
I’m going into depth about this a little farther down in the post!
What are the dates of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
For 2018, the sale begins on July 12th and goes until August 5th.
However, the first week of the sale is “Early Access” and is only open to Nordstrom card holders! It will open to the public on July 20th, and anyone can shop until August 5th.
Should I be a Nordstrom Card Holder? And What If I’m Not?
In my opinion, yes. If you’re thinking about applying for a Nordstrom Card, you can do so HERE, and you get a $40 Bonus Nordstrom Note (same as a gift card!) if you purchase on the day you’re approved!
Before I got my card, I had to wait until the second week of the sale to shop. Tons of pieces sold out and didn’t get restocked when the sale opened to the public and I missed out. It was so annoying to watch things sell out and I couldn’t get them!
I know tons of you were disappointed when things sold out and didn’t get restocked, so if that happened to you last year, get ahead and apply for your card now!
If you’re NOT a Nordstrom Card holder, the sale will open for you on July 20th both in store and online.

What will be in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale This Year?
Nordstrom always puts out a catalog a few weeks before with some of the key pieces that will be on sale. It doesn’t show everything, but it shows some!
I’ve scoured the catalogue backward and forward and there are TONS of great things.
There is a beautiful FELT HAT that I’m definitely buying, a MADEWELL CARDIGAN that I’m already obsessed with, lots of really cute PULLOVER SWEATERS and SWEATSHIRTS, several STUDDED FLATS I’m excited about, a couple of SNEAKERS (including Vans and Converse!), lots of ATHLETIC WEAR, and so many good ANKLE BOOTS.
I’m also excited that KATE SPADE’S INTIAL NECKLACES are included in the sale, lots of good JEANS will be on sale, and tons of good COATS and JACKETS.

My predictions for what will be on sale during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
Clothing Items I’m predicting will go on sale:
There’s always a really good FAUX LEATHER JACKET, and it always goes fast. Last year’s was a great one by BlankNYC.
We always see several really good pairs of JEANS. Last year I got an amazing pair by BlankNYC during the sale for under $60, I think. This year the catalogue shows jeans from Good American (I’ve heard rave reviews about these for curvier girls!!), BP., Blank NYC, Frame, and Rag and Bone. There will be more once the sale starts too!
There is always, always, always a good STRIPED TEE that’s usually around $15 and everyone wants. It sells out so fast in most sizes, so watch for it and get it!
The shoe selection is always really good. Tons of good neutral ANKLE BOOTS, lots of cute FLATS, and even sometimes HUNTER BOOTS go on sale!
I always see a couple of really great CARDIGANS in the sale, as well as WOOL WINTER COATS and RAIN JACKETS, so it’s a perfect time to stock up.
There’s almost always a pair of LEOPARD HEELS or FLATS, and they’ll definitely go fast!
Athletic gear I’m predicting will go on sale:
In the last two years I’ve seen a lot of ZELLA EXERCISE LEGGINGS on big sale. Definitely watch for those. I’ll be picking up a few.
In the catalogue I saw a few NIKE and ADIDAS SNEAKERS so count on a few good running shoes on sale!
I’ve also seen SPORTS BRAS on sale in the past – I’ll be finding a few of those for you!
Intimates I’m predicting will go on sale:
The last two years they’ve had MOONLIGHT PAJAMAS on sale in several colors. These are the most luxurious, buttery soft pajamas, and they will sell out so darn fast.
They’ll for sure have NATORI FEATHERS UNDERWIRE CONTOUR BRAS on sale (they have the past two years) and I’m totally getting a couple. They have insane reviews and I have to try them.
Baby Items I’m predicting will go on sale:
Last year I saw ADEN AND ANAIS BLANKETS on sale.
I also saw a BABY JOGGER CITY SELECT on sale last year – it’s current on sale for 25% off if you can’t wait!

A few of my best tips for shopping the sale:
Shop the sale online.
The stores are absolute madness. Nordstrom has free shipping and free returns on everything, with no time limit to return. Take advantage and do your shopping from your nice, quiet house.
If an item is sold out in your size, buy it in a different size and wait.
This is a tricky little hack if your size is sold out. Buy any other size and then you can exchange it in store for your size when it restocks. And if it never restocks, just return it for a full refund.
