Monday was really a perfect day.
Probably because Peanut slept in until 8:45…but the rest of the days activities were pretty great too.
We spent the morning at the Living Planet Aquarium in Salt Lake, where Peanut found Nemo, Philip touched a stingray, and I freaked out about a large shark and the glow in the dark scorpions. After an hour and a half there, we grabbed some lunch at Zupas (tomato basil soup and a turkey spinach-artichoke panini for me — amazing). Although Peanut wasn’t too interested in sharing our food, he was very interested in biting all the chocolate off of our chocolate covered strawberries. After lunch, we browsed a few stores and tested out a few mattresses (we’re in the market), and tried to figure out how anyone ever chooses a mattress (they’re either way too soft, way too hard, or way too expensive)!
After Peanut’s afternoon nap and a delicious hamburger dinner, we went for a beautiful walk through the cemetery down the street. It was overflowing with flowers and looked gorgeous. Then we came home and made this amazing strawberry ice cream, as it was high time we got our ice cream maker working for the summer.
Like I said, a perfect Memorial day, and a perfect way to jump start the summer.
Oh, I can't wait to hug that little man! I feel the same way about mattresses. We DESPERATELY need a new one but I don't even know where to begin. I think I'll probably put it off until we move.
Sounds like a fabulous Memorial Day! You have such a cute family!!! xoxo a-
It's a wonderful feeling to be able to spend the whole day with the loves of your life and feel so blessed!

I work for a company that manufactures innersprings for mattresses and it still took me 6 months to pick out a mattress. My best advice is to find a mattress that has a pocketed coil (less transfer of motion) and make sure you actually lay on each one for at least a few minutes. Only because a lot of pillow top mattresses have a type of memory foam that feels really hard when you first lie down but will slowly soften. Personally that annoyed me so I ended up avoiding the memory foam all together.
Happy Hunting!
Sounds like a wonderful day!
That sounds like an absolutely wonderful Memorial Day! Good luck on the mattress hunt!
Sounds like you had a great weekend! The face Peanut is making in the second photo is priceless 🙂 I thought it was really awkward laying on mattresses in the store. I wound up with a pillowtop one and it's like sleeping on a cloud 🙂

Enter to win a clutch!
that tomato basil soup from zupa's is THE BEST! soo jealous! missing utah big time right now…
We had a horrible time picking a mattress too because it's just such a HUGE commitment (and even with a return policy, who wants to deal with THAT?). Also, we've discovered that I like a reasonably soft mattress and Bart likes a quite hard mattress. Our current mattress we both like but think is just a little too hard/soft (depending on which of us you ask).
Your son is adorable!

That second picture down of your son is adorable! That face! And that home made strawberry icecream looks delicious! 🙂
Tomato basil is my fav soup! Sounds like a good weekend to me..
What a wonderful weekend! I, too, like to bite all of the chocolate off the strawberries…
Peanut is so cute, I just want to kiss that little face! Also, we got a mattress topper for Christmas from my parents from Costco and we LOVE it. It's a gel/foam combo since our mattress wasnt that comfortable, but maybe you're looking for a more permanent solution…
So much fun! Hope you're having a fantastic summer! =)
