Merrick's Art American Eagle Casual Holiday

Outfit Details:

American Eagle Outfitters Sweater (comes in 4 other colors; wearing size xs), American Eagle Outfitters Cords, Handmade Blanket Scarf (similar here), Similar Black Ankle Boots

This year I have absolutely no dressy holiday events to attend. Besides church on Christmas day, all of my Christmas events are extremely casual. And although it’s so fun to dress up, I won’t be showing up to our gingerbread making party in a cocktail dress 😉

I think in general, most people attend many more casual parties than dressy parties, so I’m sharing a few casual holiday looks this week and next that are casual, but still festive, and have pieces that are easy to wear all year long. Because it’s nice to wear something special while sticking to the dress code.

When I spotted these burgundy cords at American Eagle Outfitters I knew they’d make the perfect subtle holiday look. They’re insanely comfortable and stretchy so you can eat as many Christmas goodies as you’d like, but they’re also so flattering and subtly festive. I love that they look almost velvet, and anything burgundy is a holiday win in my book.

I paired them with a simple gray pullover sweater and a festive and cozy blanket scarf (I made mine, but this one is similar) I finished the look with a pair of ankle boots that give the look just a little bit of dressiness. I think these ones would look so good with this look too, and they’re such a good price.

I’ve worn this sweater about 20 times since it arrived, and even slept in it one night because it was so comfortable and I couldn’t take it off.

I have a hard time finding sweaters that are slightly oversized and slouchy but still flattering in the arms, and this one fits the bill perfectly. It’s also slightly lower in the back, and thin enough to tuck into a skirt. I loved it so much that I bought it in a gorgeous caramel color too, but it comes in olive and blush as well.

American Eagle Outfitters has tons of other casually festive pieces, and they’re at an amazing price point — go check out all of them right here and grab yourself something for those holiday parties!
