Over the weekend I attended a fun little blogger/shopgirl girls night. I’ve discovered over the past year or so that these events are some of my favorite part of blogging. Blogging can be such an individual thing when you’re sitting at a desk by yourself writing posts, so interacting with other bloggers, shop owners, and creative people is so refreshing and inspiring. I mean, why do you think I went to Alt Summit??
I’ve been trying to make a little more time for these kinds of events, both small and large, just because they are great for making connections, and of course, getting out of the house occasionally. But in addition to
going to the event, one thing that I learned at Alt is that the right tools go a long way as well. At Alt I made a big effort to bring beautiful
business cards and media kits, but another great tool I recently thought of was personalized postcards. After an event, I like to send a little email to the hostess just to personally thank her, or after a great collaboration I like to thank my company contact, but real mail can go a long way with impressions and connections.
I teamed up with
Makr, a gorgeous design app, and made myself some fun and simple personalized postcards. I used part of the illustration I drew for my business cards, and then added some pretty text. I love how they turned out, and I’m super excited to send these to all the companies that I work with, and all the hostesses for the events I attend. A really nice, but simple way to say thank you for partnering with Merrick’s Art.
The other good news is that my design is available for download in the app, so you can use my pretty little lady for a fun invitation, a pretty label, or just a printable! The app is super user friendly, and has gorgeous modern design templates you can use, or the capability to start from scratch and create your own. I also love that the app gives you the ability to print them at home, or have them printed and shipped to you. I’m already dreaming up Christmas cards, birthday invitations, and future baby announcements that I’m going to create with this app! And the best part? It’s
FREE for download!
The event was hosted by Andrea from For The Love Of and was held in this darling studio in downtown Fullerton. We got to play around with some new awesome Cricut machines, create some pretty hexagon paintings, eat delicious food (all made by Andrea…seriously, I could have eaten the entire pan of her ricotta, goat cheese, and tomato dip), and just hang out. It was a blast.
And since I’m sure you’re dying to know, I wore my comfy camo pants, a neon sweater, and then paired them with my new leather ankle boots, a blush colored bag, and gold jewelry. It was an unexpected combination, and it sort of just came together randomly, but I love how it turned out. Plus, it was so comfy but looked purposeful, trendy, and casual chic.

Those post cards are so fun! And so much more personal than an email or anything else! I'll have to look into making myself some!
