In the last few months I’ve gotten really in to painting my nails. I’ve gone through stages in my life where having painted nails was important to me (I remember in seventh grade making a goal to have freshly painted nails every week — I don’t think it lasted for more than three weeks), and right now I’m in one of those stages. When my nails are done I feel more put together and pretty, and I think it adds a nice finishing touch to any outfit.
I’ve never been big into nail art, but I do like fun colors and every once in a while I like doing something a little above and beyond a normal coat of polish. Today I’m teaming up with Cult Cosmetics to show you two easy nail looks that will take hardly any more time than your normal nail painting routine, but will add a big wow factor.
Cult Cosmetics features a monthly BlackBox with on-trend colors and styles that are sent right to your door. Each nail color is made in California, is vegan and free of any harsh chemicals and toxins, and my favorite part is that the polish is super fast drying, which is helpful for me since I almost always paint my nails right before I go to bed.
Today Cult Cosmetics is generously giving away two months of their BlackBox to one lucky reader AND offering all my readers 50% off your first box, making it only $9.99! Click here to visit their website and your discount will automatically be applied at checkout, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the bottom of this post!
My first nail look was with two of the colors that came in my box — “Los Feliz” and “Abbot Kinney.” A super cool antique metallic look that is SO easy.
Start with a fresh coat of “Los Feliz.”
Then open the “Abbot Kinney” color and scrape almost all of the polish off the brush. Then brush the almost-empty polish brush over each nail as much or little as you’d like until each nail has as much metallic as you desire.
Super easy, right?
My next look is a simple DIY french manicure. I love the look of french manicures, but always have a hard time finding a base color that I like. “Hollywood Hills” is the exact color I’ve been searching for, and although I love it by itself as a perfect natural pink, it’s also great here for a french manicure.
Start with a fresh coat of “Hollywood Hills.”
To achieve a perfect french tip, use the white nail art lacquer (NA1 White) with the long thin brush.
Paint a continuous line across the tip of your nail, and then fill in the tip.
Classic, chic, and no one will know you did it all by yourself!
And now for the giveaway…
