Usually we do our Sisters Share It All posts on Tuesdays, but since it’s Christmas Eve, we decided to do a special one. Today we’re sharing with you some of our favorite Christmas traditions.
My parents were always good about making lots of fun Christmas traditions, but there are two that stick out in my mind. One was decorating gingerbread houses, and I planned to share our more two-year-old-friendly version of them that we did this year, but somehow with the computer crash last week, all the photos I took of that evening disappeared. I guess if I was going to lose any photos I’d rather lose those than Buck’s birth photos, right?
So I’ll share one of my other favorite traditions: our Christmas Eve dinner. I can’t remember how it originated, but growing up we did a “Shepherd’s Meal.” We ate soup in bread bowls, sat on the floor, the house lit only by candlelight, and dressed up as shepherds complete with bathrobes and towels tied on our heads. When I was in high school, my aunt gave us a big box of nativity clothing, so from then on we dressed up as various characters from the biblical Christmas story.
Here’s a few photos from recent years we spent at my parents house:
