Infinity

I love scarves. I have an entire drawer full, and I anxiously anticipate the fall and winter when I can wear a scarf every single day. Well, at least I anxiously anticipated it last year….and then, I wore a scarf like two time the entire winter. And I think those times were more for warmth than for looks.

Here’s the problem. All my scarves are either too short, too long, have too much fringe at the ends, or are just too bulky to wear in a way that’s remotely attractive.

So, I fixed the problem.

All these too long, too short, too fat, too bulky scarves are now infinity scarves. A quick snip of either end, a seam to attach the two ends, and voila. Five new infinity scarves that I will be wearing all winter long.

Seriously, this time.

[p.s. the striped one second to the right is actually an old sweater that I chopped up and re-purposed into a few different things. I think with the loose cable knit (and stripes!) it’s my favorite]

  • I am totally a scarf girl too! Love the ones you made!

  • oh wow. you are set!! I'm totally going to have to do this..I have WAY too many scarves.

    I love all your looks.

  • I love scarfs too, but I'll usually too warm to wear them, even in our Dutch winters. I wear them outside with my coat all the time, but inside, to jazz up an outfit, no, that never happens.

  • You are so cute! What a great idea! I have a ton of scarves too that I never wear! I'll have to try this!

  • I found your blog through Pinterest and I love these scarves. For the one that was a sweater though I am wondering, Do you just cut the knit sweater? Does it fray? Do you have to finish the edges somehow?

  • @Lexi:

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I did just cut the knit sweater, so it did have to be finished along the edges so it doesn't fray. I just used a regular zigzag stitch (I don't have a serger, but if you do that will work even better), and now the edges should be secure enough to wear without any fear of fraying! Good luck!

  • That is such a great idea!! I get super annoyed by the ends of my scarves not staying where they're supposed to stay. Definitely taking one or eight of mine to infinity.
