New and Improved

When The Bridge closed down, two of the teachers kindly helped us out and decided to continue their class out of their personal studios.

I’m only taking one of those classes, and last night was the first night. Our goal with this class was to take a painting that was 80% finished and finish it — push it as far as we could.

This is my problem on a lot of my work — I start it, get stuck and frustrated, and never touch it again. Time to change that..

So I was completely stuck on this painting…I hadn’t touched it in probably six months, and had no idea what to do with it

And then my teacher, Kirk, came to the rescue and with a few glazes, some loose and random marks, and some carefully placed opaque paint, that blah portrait turned into this cool head painting.

It still has a ways to go, but in my opinion it’s a million times better than before.

  • Wonderful that the teachers are willing to continue teaching. They probably would miss the interaction as much as the students do.

As to the first painting, I couldn't see anything wrong with it until I saw the second one. Still, the first is really, really good.

  • It looks beautiful!
