FILLING IN YOUR EYEBROWS (TUTORIAL)

Hello, my name is Merrick and I'm a victim of eyebrow over-plucking. Sad, but true. It was during the months I was engaged, and thin brows were in (I think), and finally after about a year of horrible over-plucking, I realized my mistake, but by that point my poor brows had decided to just not grow anymore. The upside to this is that I rarely have to pluck my eyebrows, but the downside is that now I have the tiniest, most pathetic brows ever. So I've been filling them in for years now, but only in the last year have I found tools and products that I'm super happy with, and after several months of experimenting, I've perfected my daily brows. I've had a ton of tutorial requests, so it's time.

First up, why fill them in? Eyebrows are so important to the overall look of your face, and not only frame your face and accentuate your eyes, they can also give your face structure and I really believe that a full eyebrow makes your face look thinner.

Next, what tools do you need? Here's what I use.

- Angled Brush
- Anastasia Duo Brow Powder
- Translucent Powder (I like CoverGirl)
- Fluffy Brush (any size brush will work)

Check out the difference between one filled in and one non-filled in brow below -- are you convinced yet?

Now move to your other eyebrow. And remember! Eyebrows are not supposed to be identical to each other -- they should be similar, but not exactly identical.

  2. I've always wondered if I needed to fill in my brows, but I feel like they're too bold if I do. Maybe I'll keep practicing on stay-home-days and see if I can make them look as good as yours!

    1. They definitely make a difference! It takes a little getting use to if you're used to thin brows, but you'll grow to love it, I think!

  3. I can't wait to try this! I think I got pretty lucky with my natural eyebrows (which I'm very grateful for-thanks mom!) but sometimes they need a little help.

  5. I can't tell you how much of a difference I see in my eyebrows now that I've started filling them in. At first I thought it was a completely unnecessary step, but now it's a must-do. I'm not sure which I love better, my mascara or my brow pencil. Ha! I use the Anastasia brand brow pencils and they are definitely amazing too.

  7. I don't think anybody got through the 90's early 2000's without over plucking!! My High School pictures are eyebrow horrors!

  8. I think your brow looks quite lovely without filling in!

I also have a petite brow lol

  9. Have you tried putting castor oil on your brows to help them grow in more? I use it on my brows and eyelashes to get fuller brows and lashes - its safe and easy. :) I fill mine in too, but I notice a difference when I use castor oil. Lovely tutorial!

  13. This is a great tutorial. Do you use the darker color on the inside of the brow towards the nose and the lighter color on the outside or the other way around? Thanks!

    1. I only use the darker color, actually. I used the lighter color for a while and then realized it didn't blend well with my real brows and looked obviously drawn in. When I run out of this powder I'll go one shade darker when I re-purchase.

  14. I'm so guilty of overplucking! My poor eyebrows will never look the same. Thank you so much for the helpful tutorial :)

  15. I don't know how i survived with non filled in brows - ok that is an exaggeration I obviously survived. It's not till you start filling them in, that you realise they really make a difference to your entire face! I have converted many friends to filling in their eyebrows!

    1. Exactly! I feel like it makes my face look so much thinner, and I feel the same about other people who have bigger brows. Makes such a difference!

  16. You know the product that helps your lashes grow, ex: Latisse??? I had a bare patch on one brow and used that type of product on it. It regrew with in two weeks and remains full even though I stopped applying the product over 6 months ago!

  17. Did you use both colors on the brow powder or just one?

  18. I've started filling mine in. Yes, I've been plucking for 30 years! But I also dye mine. I use an old, washed mascara wand to carefully brush on a dab of dye just on the brow. Carefully! And NOT too much! It dyes all those teeny baby fine face hairs in the brow line an fills it all in. Voila! It's an amazing difference =)

  19. Have you tried those remedies to encourage the regrowth of your brows? I heard that nightly olive oil applications to the area does wonders, but there's plenty more of those floating around the net that I've heard really work :)

    1. I use the brunette/dark brown, but the brunette is too light for me. I'll try the Ebony or Chocolate next time!

  25. Thank you for this! I have small eyebrows as it is, but they're also blonde and seemingly nonexistent. Love to hear what works for others! I've found a pencil I mostly love, but I'll have to try this route.
