I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m one of those people that likes to do things only when there is no pressure. In high school, my worst paintings were the ones I did in the middle of the night (due the next day), and my worst grades were ones when I tried to cram the night before the test. In other words, I do not work well under pressure.
I still have three weeks until my art show, but I’m seriously feeling the pressure these days as I scramble to get my paintings completed and show ready. I really want to participate in, and have my own shows in the future, but I’d much rather paint regularly and always be building on a good body of work. Then when shows come up, it’s not a race to complete ten brand new pieces.
Live and learn.
But for now, this spread of half finished paintings is constantly calling my name. Thankfully, despite the pressure, I haven’t totally screwed them up yet.
